Taking care of mental health requirements

Improved stress, anxiety, and depression management will be provided to corporate insurers and their workers by ThoughtFull and AIA working together.

As part of AIA Corporate Solutions portfolio, the digital mental health portal ThoughtFull has partnered strategically with AIA Malaysia to offer end-to-end mental health assistance to its corporate customers.

This collaboration is the first of its kind between an insurance company or a psychological health platform in Asia, and it will enable businesses to support the mental health of their staff members by providing timely, individualized mental health resources in addition to healthcare insurance for mental health issues.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that in only the first year of the Covid-19 outbreak, there has been a 25% rise in the incidence of depression and anxiety worldwide.

Despite increased attention and priority being placed on mental healthcare globally, and despite 81% of workers feeling at risk of exhaustion this year, a poll by Mercer Marsh Advantages has found a gap between Asian insurance companies and their international counterparts whenever it comes to the providing of psychological support, with one in three of them failing to include mental health coverage in their plans.

According to a Willis Towers Watson research, the epidemic has brought employee wellness to the top of employers' priorities, with 49% of businesses planning to make improvements to their wellbeing programs in 2020.

However, the absence of proper mental health coverage still exists in the area.

In accordance with this cooperation, AIA will include ThoughtFull's comprehensive mental health services capabilities within its range of corporate solutions. Together, ThoughtFull and AIA will enhance stress, anxiety, and depression management for corporate insurers and their staff, opening up new opportunities for users to take an active role in their mental health.

ThoughtFull's founder and CEO, Joan Low, notes that while physical health and diseases have traditionally been largely covered by insurance, the same cannot be true for mental health and disorders in this region.

Many people have found it difficult to receive services because of this coverage gap and, as a result, the associated expenses of doing so. Through this relationship, ThoughtFull's current experience in organizational wellness will be used. Evidence-based frameworks will focus on the range of preventative to crisis assistance. ThoughtFull will make it simple to obtain digital final mental health assistance, allowing access to treatment wherever you are and whenever you need it.

"We've always been proponents of the value of mental health at work and think it deserves the same level of significance as physical health. In light of this, we are extremely thrilled to collaborate with ThoughtFull to provide our corporate customers' workers cutting-edge mental health services as part of our WorkWell with AIA offering "Tung Hsiao Ley, chief corporate services officer at AIA Bhd, said.

According to Tung, this collaboration will support AIA's continued efforts to support a healthier, happier, and more effective workforce in Malaysia.
